Are Roofing Scams Back in Jax?

This week I received an interesting call from a past client. My client asked me
me for the name of a good roofing company. Knowing that his roof is only 12 years old, I asked him if he had any leaks or roof damage, he said no. So I then asked, “why are you looking for a roofer?”
He said a man came to his door and did a complimentary roof inspection and was told he needs a roof. The man also said that it is possible that my client’s homeowner’s insurance company may pay for it. Being unfamiliar with this age old scam, my client gave this man his insurance information.
Folks, this is an aged old scam that has plagued our area for years. Under no circumstance should you give out any personal information to a stranger. The next time someone knocks on your door and offers something too good to be true, shut the door and call your Realtor.
